The Districts Poem

The Districts Poem
/wp:image wp:paragraph

We’ve written a poem to help you navigate the district map system in San Francisco.

/wp:paragraph wp:paragraph

There are 10 districts in the city, consisting of 89 neighborhoods in total. Each district has unique characteristics, attractions , and believe it or not, different climates!

/wp:paragraph wp:paragraph {"backgroundColor":"light-green-cyan"}

Let’s start at District 1, Lake Street and Sea Cliff – as Bel Air as SF comes.

/wp:paragraph wp:paragraph {"backgroundColor":"light-green-cyan"}

Bask in the bewitching beauty of Baker Beach, see for yourself, it’s not just a figure of speech,

/wp:paragraph wp:paragraph {"backgroundColor":"light-green-cyan"}

For some of the best dim sum to come out of any kitchen, look no further than Inner Richmond.

/wp:paragraph wp:paragraph {"backgroundColor":"luminous-vivid-amber"}

Across the park to District 2, the Sunset is a destination you drive to, not through.

/wp:paragraph wp:paragraph {"backgroundColor":"luminous-vivid-amber"}

It’s an outdoor paradise, walks along ocean beach, in the sunset, life’s a peach,

/wp:paragraph wp:paragraph {"backgroundColor":"luminous-vivid-amber"}

It may have a reputation with the fog, but I’ll take mist any day over smog,

/wp:paragraph wp:paragraph {"backgroundColor":"luminous-vivid-amber"}

Home to the original toast sensation, Trouble coffee on Judah could be your regular fueling station,

/wp:paragraph wp:paragraph {"backgroundColor":"luminous-vivid-amber"}

It’s hard to really find a downside, from Inner Sunset to Outer Parkside

/wp:paragraph wp:paragraph {"backgroundColor":"luminous-vivid-amber"}

Talk to any of the neighbors, and if you don’t believe us, just ask the appraisers!

/wp:paragraph wp:paragraph {"backgroundColor":"pale-pink"}

District 3 could be the brain of the city, with some of the best schools and colleges all in the vicinity ,

/wp:paragraph wp:paragraph {"backgroundColor":"pale-pink"}

If you’re a golfer you don’t need to go far, there’s 3 championship courses to perfect your par,

/wp:paragraph wp:paragraph {"backgroundColor":"pale-pink"}

If running, rowing and biking is what you need, 600 acres of Lake Merced will bring you up to speed,

/wp:paragraph wp:paragraph {"backgroundColor":"pale-pink"}

Listen to the SF symphony amongst eucalyptus trees, the Stern Grove festival could be in your neck of the woods, so to speak.

/wp:paragraph wp:paragraph {"backgroundColor":"pale-pink"}

Stonestown Galleria is a great shopping location, incidentally also a culinary destination,

/wp:paragraph wp:paragraph {"backgroundColor":"pale-pink"}

Want to try pancakes from Japan that jiggle? These are made soufflé, not your usual griddle,

/wp:paragraph wp:paragraph {"customBackgroundColor":"#8ad373"}

Looking for a home you can adore? Look no further than District 4

/wp:paragraph wp:paragraph {"customBackgroundColor":"#8ad373"}

Where else would you find Robin Hood but in Sherwood Forest, it’s the highest street in the city – honest,

/wp:paragraph wp:paragraph {"customBackgroundColor":"#8ad373"}

With nearly 200 species of birds that come flocking,Mt.Davidson’s your spot for birdwatching,

/wp:paragraph wp:paragraph {"customBackgroundColor":"#8ad373"}

West Portal is a hidden gem, an urban village with nostalgia at its helm.

/wp:paragraph wp:paragraph {"customBackgroundColor":"#8ad373"}

St. Francis Wood is the neighborhood you’ll covet, the tree lined streets will make you forget the word budget,

/wp:paragraph wp:paragraph {"customBackgroundColor":"#73aefb"}

District 5 is at the heart of the city, and to overlook it would be a pity.

/wp:paragraph wp:paragraph {"customBackgroundColor":"#73aefb"}

Home to the city’s most desirable neighborhoods, you may want to move in here for good

/wp:paragraph wp:paragraph {"customBackgroundColor":"#73aefb"}

If you need some sunshine and warmth like me, you can’t beat the microclimate of Noe,

/wp:paragraph wp:paragraph {"customBackgroundColor":"#73aefb"}

Nothing says summer like Dolores Park, with ice cream from Bi-Rite that hits the mark.

/wp:paragraph wp:paragraph {"customBackgroundColor":"#73aefb"}

Next-door Castro is filled with diversity, it celebrates everyone living in the community,

/wp:paragraph wp:paragraph {"customBackgroundColor":"#73aefb"}

Famous for it’s movie palace and sing along’s, great if you like to break out in song,

/wp:paragraph wp:paragraph {"customBackgroundColor":"#73aefb"}

Glen Park’s the one if you have to commute, 280’s the best for most of the routes,

/wp:paragraph wp:paragraph {"customBackgroundColor":"#f76b5e"}

Further up to District 6, the Painted ladies are worth the trip,

/wp:paragraph wp:paragraph {"customBackgroundColor":"#f76b5e"}

What better place for your home search to start, Alamo Square you have my heart,

/wp:paragraph wp:paragraph {"customBackgroundColor":"#f76b5e"}

Divisadero corridor, for food you will agree, is home to the best- like Brenda’s Meat & Three

/wp:paragraph wp:paragraph {"customBackgroundColor":"#f76b5e"}

There are so may places to choose from, Nopa, Ragazza, Souvla, just follow the crumbs.

/wp:paragraph wp:paragraph {"customBackgroundColor":"#f76b5e"}

Hayes Valley known for its trendy scene, wine bars and cafes almost bursting at its seams,

/wp:paragraph wp:paragraph {"customBackgroundColor":"#f76b5e"}

SF Jazz Center is just up the street, in an area this fun, you won’t miss a beat.

/wp:paragraph wp:paragraph {"customBackgroundColor":"#f76b5e"}

If you need the city’s transport assistance, BART/ Muni are both within walking distance.

/wp:paragraph wp:paragraph {"customBackgroundColor":"#ff9900"}

Would you like the Golden Gate Bridge in your backyard? Or like to stroll down Marina Boulevard?

/wp:paragraph wp:paragraph {"customBackgroundColor":"#ff9900"}

If that sounds like a slice of heaven, then I suggest you look at District 7,

/wp:paragraph wp:paragraph {"customBackgroundColor":"#ff9900"}

For a place of stillness and contemplation, The Palace of Fine Arts is your location.

/wp:paragraph wp:paragraph {"customBackgroundColor":"#ff9900"}

Fillmore, Chestnut and Union are the spots to be, most areas have one main street-here you get 3,

/wp:paragraph wp:paragraph {"customBackgroundColor":"#ff9900"}

370 meters above sea level means you will break a sweat, it’s called Pacific Heightsincase you forget,

/wp:paragraph wp:paragraph {"customBackgroundColor":"#ff9900"}

And even if you’re not buying on billionaires row, theres always room here to change the status quo.

/wp:paragraph wp:paragraph {"customBackgroundColor":"#65c56e"}

Heading northeast to District 8, where iconic landmarks sit next to real estate.

/wp:paragraph wp:paragraph {"customBackgroundColor":"#65c56e"}

If you want to live near history it’s your call, take your pick, Coit tower, Ghirardelli Square even City Hall,

/wp:paragraph wp:paragraph {"customBackgroundColor":"#65c56e"}

If you like your pasta cooked al dente, and feel that life should be full of ‘dolce far niente

/wp:paragraph wp:paragraph {"customBackgroundColor":"#65c56e"}

North Beach, is a neighborhood that is quite literally, quintessential San Francisco, via Italy.

/wp:paragraph wp:paragraph {"customBackgroundColor":"#65c56e"}

Is apartment living for you? Nob Hill is great for a room with a view,

/wp:paragraph wp:paragraph {"customBackgroundColor":"#65c56e"}

Looking for a Pied a Terre? A doorman building could be the answer to your prayer,

/wp:paragraph wp:paragraph {"customBackgroundColor":"#65c56e"}

This district is special without being too fancy, and it’s the only place in the city with an original Banksy.

/wp:paragraph wp:paragraph {"customBackgroundColor":"#f96a7b"}

District 9 if you want condo living, views of the Bay Bridge, (and lap pool included), depending on the building,

/wp:paragraph wp:paragraph {"customBackgroundColor":"#f96a7b"}

Lumina & Harrison in South Beach are in a great spot, the Avery and Mira are the new kids on the block.

/wp:paragraph wp:paragraph {"customBackgroundColor":"#f96a7b"}

Salesforce Tower’s- the tallest building west of the Mississippi – the new skyline of the city is anything but hippie.

/wp:paragraph wp:paragraph {"customBackgroundColor":"#f96a7b"}

SOMA and Portrero Hillhave some of the best loft spaces, if your job’s remote then a live-work home can be very persuasive.

/wp:paragraph wp:paragraph {"customBackgroundColor":"#f96a7b"}

Mission Bay makes the journey down south easy, Cal-Train station nearby makes your commute breezy,

/wp:paragraph wp:paragraph {"customBackgroundColor":"#f96a7b"}

Home to the new Warriors arena a.k.a Chase Center, if you’re looking for an investment condo –this would make a great venture.

/wp:paragraph wp:paragraph {"customBackgroundColor":"#f96a7b"}

If you like your art and you like your food, the Mission’s vibrance will have you glued,

/wp:paragraph wp:paragraph {"customBackgroundColor":"#f96a7b"}

One of the hottest neighborhoods in the city is known to be Bernal, I’m not talking temperatures or trying to be controversial,

/wp:paragraph wp:paragraph {"customBackgroundColor":"#fdf630"}

Lastly we have District 10Crocker Amazon could be the answer, Amen,

/wp:paragraph wp:paragraph {"customBackgroundColor":"#fdf630"}

Like the pace of the suburbs, but want to live near the action? Mission or Silver Terrace delivers, with a side of satisfaction.

/wp:paragraph wp:paragraph {"customBackgroundColor":"#fdf630"}

You’ll love Flora Grubb even if you don’t have green fingers, great for backyard inspiration or even just to linger,

/wp:paragraph wp:paragraph {"customBackgroundColor":"#fdf630"}

Portola has lots more than curb appeal, Alemany Farmer’s market could seal the deal,

/wp:paragraph wp:paragraph {"customBackgroundColor":"#fdf630"}

Most homes here will have a backyard and garage, outdoor space is a possibility, not a mirage.

/wp:paragraph wp:paragraph {"customBackgroundColor":"#62c1a5"}

We’ve taken you on a tour of our city, and hope you’ve found this resourceful and witty,

/wp:paragraph wp:paragraph {"customBackgroundColor":"#62c1a5"}

But on a more serious note, ‘Home is where the Heart is’ is not just a quote,

/wp:paragraph wp:paragraph {"customBackgroundColor":"#62c1a5"}
